Obituary for Clifford Carlson

Clifford Wilbur Carlson, age 91, formerly of Streamwood, Il., died peacefully in his sleep on August 11, 2022 at his home in Huntley, Il. Cliff was born in Chicago, Il. on July 27, 1931 to Ethel and Clifford Carlson.
He is survived by his children Caren (Paul) Knabe, Clifford W. (Denise) Carlson Jr., and Cheryl (Charles) Schrade; his six grandchildren Paul (Angie) Knabe, Charlie (Kayla Neuman) Schrade, Clifford William (Diana) Carlson, Christine (Michael) Cederoth, Brian (Kelly) Carlson, and Cori Schrade; and his two great grandchildren Kaylee and Dylan Knabe. He is also survived by his devoted friend Ruth Schaefer, brother Rich (Elaine) Carlson, and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Frances Hides Carlson, his parents Clifford and Ethel Carlson, and his brother David Carlson.

Cliff served his country through active duty in the Navy during the Korean War. Cliff and Fran moved to Streamwood, Il. in 1957 and joined the volunteer fire department for the growing village. He was one of the founding members of Grace Lutheran Church in Streamwood and later became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley. After a successful career with Hartz Mountain Pet Supplies, he retired. Not long after that, he went to work for Kimberly Clark to keep his mind young.
Cliff's family always took precedent. He enjoyed taking his family on cruises, fishing at his cottage in Wisconsin, and bringing his grand kids to Cubs Conventions and numerous other special events.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 3:30-8:30pm at Countryside Funeral home, 1640 S. Green Meadows Blvd. Streamwood. There will be visitation on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 9:00-10:00am at Grace Lutheran Church, 780 S. Bartlett Rd. Streamwood before the funeral service at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hwy 20 in Elgin.
