Obituary for David Dimmlich

David Lee Dimmlich passed away August 14, 2019, at his home in Elgin, IL.

Dave was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Walter and Elizabeth (Mesenbach) Dimmlich. Dave lived in many places, but always returned to the Midwest. Dave loved motorcycles, scotch whiskey, bourbon whiskey, sitting on the front porch, reading science fiction, gardening, lots of family time, writing, teaching, and sitting on the veranda with his best friend and wife Kathy Beth.

Dave was the Vice President and co-owner of Task Trainers, Inc. a company he helped start in 1983. Prior to that Dave was along time resident of Freeport, IL where he taught machine shop and welding at JoDavies Vocational Center in Elizabeth, Stephenson Area Career Center in Freeport, and Highland Community College in Freeport.

Dave was proud that he was a journeyman machinist and teacher. He completed college later in life, but it was nothing compared to his skilled trade training. He was instrumental in developing a performance based, individualized training system at the Stephenson Area Career Center. This was his proudest accomplishment. After starting Task Trainers with his partner Joel, he continued working as a training consultant until his death. Retirement did not suit him.

Dave is survived by his wife Kathy Beth Hummelberg, his brother Carl (Becky) Dimmlich, nephews Casey (Mary) Vuorenmaa, Mark (Rachel) Vuorenmaa and Carl Vuorenmaa, his nieces Katey (Nathan) Warnberg and Laura (Dean) Dimmlich and 11 grand-nieces and nephews.
