Obituary for Elaine Charvat

Charvat (Mesec), Elaine, 85, of Sun City West, AZ and Schaumburg, IL, was called home on August 6, 2019 after a courageous battle against chronic health conditions. Elaine will join her husband of 58 years, William Charvat and daughter, Jeanne Charvat (Yankowski) in heaven along with her father and mother Louis and Josephine Mesec, brother Harry Mesec and sister Stasy (Mesec) Heile. A chorus of countless beloved pets, including Lion, Missy Cat, Otis the bird and Toby the pug, are waiting as well. Elaine graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Laboratory Medicine and enjoyed a long career as a medical technician and lab manager in Schaumburg, even continuing her career after moving to Sun City West, AZ. Elaine loved to spend her free time productively by sewing, dancing, cooking, baking, and taking care of her family. She engaged in numerous clubs and activities in Sun City West, sharing her skills and passion at the sewing club, teaching and performing dance, ministering to others through her church, and even joining the computer club! She never missed an opportunity to send a homemade card, gift, or pastry to her daughter Linda, sons Mark, Steven, and Greg, as well as her sons-in-law Rick Barlow and Patrick Yankowski, and daughter-in-law Tammy Charvat. She was exceptionally proud of her grandchildren Katie Yankowski, Justin Charvat, and Tara Charvat. She loved to spend time with them in Arizona or on visits back to Schaumburg. She was grateful to return to Schaumburg for the past year, living at Friendship Village, where she was able to spend more time with her family and reconnect with friends from Schaumburg. Active in her church and community throughout her life, Elaine was always a person everyone could count on to volunteer. A memorial mass will be held at Church of the Holy Spirit at 1451 Bode Road, Schaumburg, IL on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 10 am. Burial will follow the mass at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the AZ Humane Society, Sun Cities 4Paws Rescue, Inc, or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Nana, we already miss you so much but now it is time for a well-deserved rest. You left this world a better place and for that, we are eternally grateful.
