Evonne Marie Loska, nee Eichorst of Streamwood and formerly of Des Plaines, Schaumburg and Colorado. Devoted mother of Andrew, Jr., Dana (Justin) Scott and Heather (Joshua) Mendez; Loving Mamo of Jameson, Carter and Lia; sister of Diane Eichorst and the late Eric; daughter of Herman and Blanche Eichorst. Evonne was a 1976 graduate of Forest View High School in Des Plaines. She was a dedicated employee in the billing department of FedEx Freight.
Evonne loved to spend her time being outside surrounded by nature. She loved taking walks with her family and past dogs. Oh, how she loved dogs, even when her granddogs drove her nuts. You could often find her working in the yard, unless there was a spider nearby. She loved planting and enjoying what bloomed. Evonne enjoyed listening to storms as they rolled in and got great joy from loud booming thunderstorms. When she wasn’t spending time outside, she enjoyed her meet ups with her close friends. She had a sense of humor that could bring tears from laughing so hard.
The moments she cherished most were when she was surrounded by family. Evonne devoted her life to raising her children. She got great pride out of their accomplishments. She instilled a sense of strength and independence into her children. Once grandchildren were born, everything changed and her life had a new meaning. She loved being a MAMO to her three grandchildren. Her face lit up when they spent time together reading, playing or just being silly. She took her family game nights very seriously - she especially liked to win at the card game Phase 10.
Evonne was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017 and fought bravely for three years. She faced every obstacle courageously and with hope and faith. She was an inspiration to many during her journey. She did not let this disease rule her life. She made sure to make memories with loved ones including a special trip to the beach with her children and grandchildren. Even though Evonne was small in stature, her strength, courage and love was large and will be greatly missed.
