Obituary for Gerald Coogan

Gerald Coogan, 91 of Bartlett, formerly of Addison and born in Newry, Northern Ireland. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen, nee O'Brien; dear father of Karen (Gary) Holmes and the late Kevin; grandpa of Timothy, Trevor, Colin and Aidan; loving brother of Florence (late Adolph) Gawin, Patrick (Mary), Phillip (late Peggy), late Jack (late Ena), late Herbert (Joan) and the late Patricia (late Richard) Waldron; son of the late Owen and Norah, nee Collins; dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Mr. Coogan immigrated to the United States, specifically Chicago, in 1958 after serving thirteen years in the British Royal Marines 42 Commando. He met his bride to be, Kathleen, in Chicago and they were married in 1959. Gerald cherished time with family. He lived a simple life and taught the family the values of hard work, honesty, respect and humility. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Visitation Wednesday 9:00 AM until the time of his service 10:30 AM at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett. Interment Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and in honor of his son Kevin, donations to The Cystic Fibrosis Association - Greater Illinois Chapter - Chicago, 150 N.
