JC Rose, 91, of Bartlett, passed away on February 24, 2019 at Central DuPage Hospital. He passed peacefully surrounded by the family he loved so much and who absolutely adored him in return.
JC was a true entrepreneur who successfully ran a metal polishing shop in Chicago and later a donut shop in Florida. He was an incredibly hard-working and self-taught man who was an inspiration to all who knew him. He had an artistic spirit and taught himself the art of wood working, stained glass, ceramics casting and painting, and oil painting. His roots growing up on a Kentucky farm stayed with him throughout his life and he enjoyed growing and canning his own fruits and vegetables. He enjoyed line dancing and not too long ago took each of his granddaughters for a spin on the dance floor! He was a life long Cubbies fan and was paid off for his loyalty when they won the World Series in 2016.
He had many passions and interests but above all else he loved his family. He was a loving father to his five daughters and was the most amazing grandfather (Pa) to his ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He loved us all for our individuality and was always so proud of each of us. We are very lucky to have had him in our lives.
JC is lovingly survived by his daughters: Mary Russell, Vicky Rose, Jacki Jaye (the late Mark) Rose Gatewood, Dianna Dianovsky and her husband Rick; and Cathy Mitchell and her husband Tom; his grandchildren: Jennifer Peters and her husband Dale, Bill Russell and his wife Stacy, Nicole Petrousek and her husband Dan, Jessica (the late Tim) Gatewood Beaty, Samantha Gatewood, Erika Meisner and her husband Jeff, Maggie Jarecki and her husband Michael, Leah Mitchell Gonzalez and her husband Marcos, Lyndell Clark and his wife Lauren, and Kassandra Mitchell Allen; and his great grandchildren Becca Hansen, Bill Russell Jr., Dani Petrousek, Andi Petrousek, Jake Beaty, Violet Meisner, and April Allen. He was predeceased by his wife, Bessie Rose.
He was the kind of man you couldn’t help but love. He was smart, wickedly funny, and incredibly kind. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
