Obituary for Judi McCarthy (Griffiths)

A visitation for Judi A. McCarthy nee Griffiths will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 11:00a.m. until time of memorial service 12:30p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Rd.) Streamwood/Schaumburg. Cremation was private at the Countryside Crematory.

Judi is the beloved mother of Daniel (Debbie) McCarthy and Kelly (Shawn Sim) McCarthy; cherished daughter of the late John and Shirley Griffiths nee Berger; loving sister of Margie Griffiths and Joan (Steve) Murphy; dear aunt of many loving nieces and nephews; former wife of Terrence McCarthy; adored by her "Grand dogs" "Daisy", "Bentley" and "Winston".

Judi loved diamonds - and rubies. She loved yellow roses. Judi loved to watch ice skating and knew all the jumps and moves and who did it best. She breathed, ate, drank, slept, and dreamed The Cubs. She loved dogs and taking them for rides in the car (especially Sam). Judi loved gambling - slots, playing cards, bingo, even if there was no money involved. She had a wicked sense of humor and was quick to share it. But she really, really loved SHOPPING. She just couldn’t get enough of that!

Judi was a very devoted mother. The well-being of her children was always a priority for her. She instilled in them a love of sports, supported their participation, and was their biggest fan. She always worried. Judi made sure her children always had the safety of a home and worked very hard to give them that.

Judi was a big sister who was a ‘go to’ for answers to life’s questions. She was fiercely protective of her younger sisters. Whatever they encountered, she had seen it first so she could always help to explain. Judi also held a very special place in her heart for her McCarthy brothers-in-law. They were the brothers she never had. She also was proud of all her nephews and nieces and enjoyed hearing stories about their accomplishments.

Judi battled a lifetime of health challenges and we all pray she has found the freedom, peace, and calm that she deserves.
