Obituary for Michael Pistorio

Michael Dominick Pistorio, 96, died February 26, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Paula and Rose, loving Father of Frank (Lynn) Pistorio, Michael (Joanne) Pistorio, Antoinette (Blair) Wokosin, and proud grandfather of Ariana and Maya, Eric, Candance, Samantha, cherished great grandfather of 5; fond brother of the late Joe, Paul, Jim and Dolly.

Michael was an honorably discharged Navy veteran, 1940-1953, BugleMaster 1C, Seaman2C, QuarterMaster1C, and served on, USS Wisconsin (BB-64), USS Sacramento, USS Memphis, USS Florence Nightingale, USS Colorado (BB-45) and the USS Ancon.

He fought in the Philippine Liberation, European-African-Mideast Theaters. He served as QuarterMaster1C on the Flagship USS Ancon during the Invasion of Sicily and then onto the D-Day invasion of Omaha Beach Normandy France.

Michael loved to joke, loved making people laugh and was a firm believer that you could accomplish anything that you set your mind to.
He was a carpenter by trade and loved working with his hands.

Memorial visitation Saturday, March 2, 11:00am until time of memorial service 1:30pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 333 S. Roselle Road (1/2 mile South of Irving Park Road), Roselle. In lieu of flowers donations to the Wounded Warriors Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate would be appreciated.
