Richard passed peacefully from this life on January 22, 2022 surrounded by his family. Richard was born on April 22, 1933 to Lynda and Edgar Lehmann in Racine, Wisconsin. He graduated from Racine Lutheran High School in 1951.
On June 30, 1956, Richard married his wife Harriet Mueller at the Evangelical and Reformed Church, Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Together they established a family in several different cities before settling in Streamwood, Illinois where they have lived for close to fifty years. Their large family includes four children: Robert (Zhanna), Cathy Roth (Michael), Joe (Lisa), and Lori Arnone (Bret); thirteen grandchildren: Richard (Emily), William (Whitney), Rebecca, Jacob (Monica), Cara (Michael), Douglas, Trenton, Samuel, Haley, David, Anna, Mark, and Dylan; and six great-grandchildren: Tobias, Titus, Sophia, Amos, Gabby, and Arden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynda and Edgar, his wife, Harriet, and his brothers, Merlin and Walter. He is also survived by his sister Carol Lindeman.
Family gatherings were important events for Richard as he wished that all of those who meant the most to him were gathered in one place sharing in the food and hospitality offered in his home. He loved playing cards with family and friends and sharing in the stories of family vacations and other special moments. A life-long Packer fan, he delighted in recounting their victories and teasing those in the family who were not fans. Richard was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked for A.T. & T for over 30 years. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schaumburg, Illinois.
