Obituary for Shannon Ryter

Shannon D. Ryter, Born March 3, 1970, in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, passed away on February 7, 2022, after a brief illness at the age of 51. Preceded in death by his father William F. Ryter and brother William "Bill" S. Ryter. Survived by his mother Del (Senecal) Ryter, brother Justin N. Ryter, nephews Christian M. Ryter and Colton W. Ryter, many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. Shannon worked many years for the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority as a lead mechanic.

Shannon was a gifted mechanic, fisherman, drag racer, chef, problem solver and storyteller. Shannon was always willing to lend his talents for the betterment of others. If he knew you had trouble, Shannon would feed you, fix the problem, make you laugh and send you on your way before you realized what he had done. As a seasoned outdoorsman, he often acted as a wilderness guide in the woods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, identifying trail and natural wonders that even the locals missed. A genuine, gentle, and generous soul, Shannon is beloved by many and will be sorely missed by the children, adults and animals that were blessed to make his acquaintance.
