Obituary for Thomas Groh

Thomas P. (“Tommy/Tom”) Groh, 71, of Streamwood, IL, passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2022. Born on July 3, 1951, to the late Peter and Jane Groh, Tom grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois. Tom graduated from Maine Township High School South, class of 1969. He was a proud sheet metal worker and member of local union number 73 for more than 40 years.

He was the beloved father of his two children, Danielle (Paul) Lippens, and Thomas Groh II; adoring “Cubs” grandpa to his two grandchildren, Noah and Carter Lippens; dear brother of the late Kenneth (Kathy) Groh and the late Gaile Webb; and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Tom was an avid Chicago sports fan and he loved cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. His wardrobe in the spring/summer always included the Chicago Cubs and then his wardrobe transitioned to the Chicago Bears for the fall/winter. To his friends he was known as “Cubs Tommy”. Tom will be tremendously missed by all who knew him; however, his legacy will live forever through his family and friends.
