Obituary for Alma Alleman

Alma S. Allemann, 94, formerly of Elgin, was called to her heavenly home on July 1, 2017 in Tucson, AZ with her niece and friends at her side. We rejoice with her as she is reunited with her family and beloved friends. Alma was born February 7, 1923 to the late Albert and Emma Reimer nee Mahl in Elgin. She graduated from Hanover TWP School. On November 14, 1949, Alma was united in marriage to Carl Allemann in Arkansas. They came back and made their home in Elgin where they continued to farm until his passing on October 5, 1973. Alma worked at the Case Factory in Elgin prior to starting at Illinois Tool Works (ITW) in 1955. In her many years at ITW she performed several different job duties. This is where she met her faithful, devoted soul mate, the late Clifford Brege. In 1987 Alma retired from Illinois Tool Works in Elgin after working 31 years. In 1990 she and Clifford moved to Tucson, Arizona. Together they enjoyed life, family and traveling throughout the country until his passing on July 2, 2009. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Bartlett and a member of Rincon Congregational United Church of Christ in Tucson.
Alma was the matriarch/care giver of the family; she was a proud, strong and courageous woman. She had a huge heart, many friends and an extended family that loved her dearly. She will always be remembered as Ma, Almie, Tootie and Grandma by those who knew her. She enjoyed baking and cooking enough food to feed an army. Although Alma never had any children of her own, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind Clifford’s children and grandchildren who were a big part of her life. Alma was the last of her generation and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. However, we consider ourselves so fortunate to have had her in our lives for so long.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Allemann, sister Dorothy (late LeRoy) Spoerlein, brother Albert (late Mary) Reimer, brother Donald Reimer, and brother Alfred. Visitation Wednesday July 12, 3:00p.m. - 9:00p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Road (at Stearns Rd) in Bartlett. Lying in state Thursday 10:00a.m. until time of service 10:30a.m. at Immanual United Church of Christ 415 W. North Avenue, Bartlett with interment following at the Bartlett Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to IUCC or an organization of your choice would be appreciated.
