Obituary for Anita Sinha (Prasad)

Mrs. Anita Sinha (1935 – 2018)

Mrs. Anita Sinha of Eastman, GA passed away on January 6, 2018.

Mrs. Sinha was born in the state of Bihar, India to the late Jamuna Prasad and Kishori Devi. She matriculated to Annie Besant College in Benaras (now Varanasi), India from 1946 to 1952. She received her BA degree in Psychology from Patna University in 1955, and then began the classwork to earn her Master’s degree. Her Master’s studies were interrupted in 1957 when she married Ranjit Sinha, M.D., in Patna, India.

In January 1965, Mrs. Sinha and family moved to Morristown, NJ, and then to Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada in 1969, during which time Dr. Sinha completed his medical training. She stayed very busy raising 2 young children and volunteering at the local elementary school.

In September 1974, the family moved to Morehead, KY. Mrs. Sinha was very active in the Medical Wives Auxiliary, which sought to raise money for hospital charities. She also decided to return to university and completed her Master’s Degree in Psychology from Morehead State University.

In 1988, Dr. and Mrs. Sinha moved to Eastman, GA. Mrs. Sinha then oversaw the business operations of Dr. Sinha’s private practice. She also spent time completely renovating their residence, the third oldest house in town, which was built just after the Civil War (circa 1867).

She enjoyed the arts; particularly music, where she played the tanpura and sang on the radio in India. In addition, she enjoyed dancing and painting. She was an avid seamstress and would also design and knit sweaters. In later years, she enjoyed gardening and loved to cook amazing meals for her family and friends.

Mrs. Sinha was preceded in death by her husband, Ranjit Sinha, who sadly passed away just recently on October 13, 2017. Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children Vinita Watts M.D. (Greg) of Columbus, IN; Sujit Sinha (Susan) of South Barrington, IL; grandchildren, Shaleni Watts, Samit Sinha, and Suven Sinha.
