Obituary for Dolores Mazurkiewicz

Dolores Mazurkiewicz, of Schaumburg, formerly of Lombard, was born November 11, 1930 in Chicago to Joseph and Josephine (nee Ziemba) Nejman. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 3, 2017. Dolores is survived by her daughter JoAnne (Michael) Rapp of Hoffman Estates, and granddaughters Susan Rapp and Amy Rapp (Chris Petlak). Dolores is preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward S Mazurkiewicz. She faithfully devoted herself to caring for Edward after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Dolores loved to spend time as a volunteer at Friendship Village in Schaumburg, and supporting veterans, in memory of her beloved Edward. She enjoyed reading and discussing current events from newspapers, magazine, and biographies. In her final months, she would often tell her family and friends, “Today’s a good day; tomorrow’s gonna be better.” She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 12 at the Countryside Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1640 South Greenmeadows Blvd (at Barrington Road), Streamwood/Schaumburg IL 60107. Cremation will be private followed by private interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or to the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 433 S. Carlton Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187.
