Obituary for Florence Dieckhoff (Lamprecht)

Florence Dieckhoff (Lamprecht)
Florence Dieckhoff, 97, died Saturday, August 4, 2018. Born June 18, 1921 to Herman and Mildred (Tatge) Lamprecht, she grew up on the family farm at Bode and Bartlett Roads in what is now Streamwood. In October 1941 she married Elmer Dieckhoff. They continued on the farm, raising crops, dairy cows and chickens, until moving to Elgin in 1973. Retired from the farm, she worked in the cafeteria at Tefft Junior High School and later at Ackemann’s department store. She made many memories taking short trips with family and friends.

She enjoyed making things for others, including German potato salad, cakes and even greeting cards. She treasured the time spent playing cards and games with her great-grandchildren. She continued hosting family Easter and Thanksgiving traditions well into her 90s.
Florence was a lifelong member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Streamwood. She was active in the Women’s Guild and enjoyed participating in other church activities including the Chick-n-Chop and food pantry.

She is survived by her children, Shirley (John) Whitmer and Arland (Barbara) Dieckhoff; grandchildren Sandy Whitmer, Sarah Cunnar, Becky (Don) McClure, Scott (Malia) Dieckhoff; great-grandchildren Garrett, Matt, Emily, Ben, Bailey, John, Megan, Grayce, Katie and Karsyn; and great-great grandson Micah. She is also survived by her special nephew Steve (Joann) Lamprecht, great-nieces Stefanie and Stacie, and great-great nieces Alyssa, Ashlyn and Annalyse.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years in 1995, parents, step-mother Grayce Lamprecht, brother Elmer Lamprecht, and sister-in-law Lorraine Lamprecht.
