Obituary for Gerald Prybylski

Gerald L. Prybylski of Bartlett; beloved husband of 39 years to Rochelle (nee Pantaleo); dear brother of Marlys, Roger, Steve, Michael, Henry (Gwen), Dorothy (Don) Scow, Robert (Kathie) and the late Edward and Richard (Dorothy); brother in law of Paulette (Victor) Keegan; loving uncle of nieces and nephews Kathi, Lynette, Michael, Tracy, Martin, Donnie, Joel, Bret, Kelly, Rachel, Shelly, Brian, Duane, Jim, Lisa and Megan; many loving grand nieces, grand nephews, relatives and friends; also survived by his adopted brothers at the VFW Post 11018. Proud master of Snowball.
Preceded in death by his parents Steven and Ethel and his loving in laws Joe and Mary Pantaleo.

Jerry was instrumental in re-instituting Bartlett VFW Post 11018 in 1994, resulting in him actively raising money any way he could during Poppy Days, Flag Days and was relentless before and during Pasta Night. He was a proud member of this Color Guard, taking part in parades and memorial services. He also was a Board Member of the Bartlett Veterans Memorial Foundation, again raising money.

Jerry’s career began while in the U.S. Air Force, fulfilling his boyhood dream of becoming a fire fighter, of which he did in the U.S. Air Force and while in Vietnam. He then was a fire fighter at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, Glenview Naval Station and Fermi Lab. He obtained an Associate Degree in Fire Protection from Triton Junior College and a Bachelor's Degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in Fire Science Management. He briefly worked for Chubb Insurance. He began his 25-year career at Fox Valley Fire and Safety as a Fire Safety Technician, then becoming a Sales Rep, then Collections Representative.

Jerry loved to travel, he and Rochelle were known to not only visit relatives, but their favorite vacation spots of Arizona (Cubs Spring Training), Hawaii and the Caribbean. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan.

Visitation Friday, 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett. Funeral Saturday, 9:15 a.m. to St. Peter Damian Church. Mass 10:00 a.m. Burial Bartlett Cemetery.
