Obituary

Guillermo Gonzalez, 51, of Schaumburg, passed away peacefully August 5, 2019. Guillermo was the beloved husband of Elizabeth for 25 years; proud father of Cristian, Mateo, and Briana; cherished son of Miguel Angel and Maria Yolanda Gonzalez; loving brother of Maria (Martin) Garcia, Juan Pablo (Edith), Miguel (Melissa) and Gerardo (Nancy); dear grandson of Francisca Torres, the late Federico Torres, late Guillermo Gonzalez and the late Carmen Navarro; he will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was close to his uncle Miguel Angel Torres, who was like a brother to him.

Guillermo was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 10 years, and had worked for American Airlines for 16 years.

At a young age his passion as a DJ began always participating in family events. In addition, he participated in marching band and soccer in high school. Guillermo enjoyed being involved in his childrens' sports activities, coaching soccer and basketball. He loved drawing with his daughter, and was a great story teller. Guillermo was a big fan of the Packers, Cubs, and Black Hawks.

I have known Bill through the Knights of Columbus for only about 1-2 years but in the short amount of time that I have known him, I got to experience the great and loving person he was. He was always encouraging/positive and a very good, creative thinker when it came to things we were working on. Bill had a great work ethic and he always talked about his wife and children, which I could tell was world. He also talked about St. Walter and the amazing community they had there. When Bill was around in the meetings, there was a calming effect that he had being with others.

Here is a picture of us exactly one year ago (August 11, 2018) when he was volunteering at the St. Joseph Festival in Addison, IL. Bill is in the blue shirt. I wish he was at the front of the picture instead of I but it’s only the picture that we are in together and I really cherish it. He didn’t even have to come to volunteer but he really enjoyed the parish and the people at St. Joseph and I think he just truly helping out when he can.

I want to extend my deepest condolences and sympathies to Bill’s family and loved ones. I just found out about his passing today, I wish so bad that I could of paid my last respects to him. I will keep his soul and all of his family in my prayers and thoughts going forward. As a Knights of Columbus brother to Bill, if there is anything that his family ever needs, please don’t hesitate on reaching out. Rest in Peace Bill and thank you for all that you have done and the legacy that you leave behind. – Love Chris Agdeppa

Christian and Mateo were in thh Cub Scout Pack, along with my two son's. I was the Cubmaster and needed an Asssistant Cubmaster to help provide a good program for the boys. I always said a man blessed with 2 sons should be a Scout leader. Made a plea at the Blue and Gold Dinner and Bill stepped up as an Assistant. WOW. He was only able to do that for several months and had to relocate the family to Texas.
Bill moved back to St Walters and joined the Knights. We needed a Grand Knight and someone made a plea to him and he stepped up as the new Grand Knight for I think 3 years, WOW.
The Knights needed a web site and a Facebook page and Bill stepped up and created both, WOW
The KC District needed a Deputy and Bill stepped up to fill that position WOW
I recently took over the Knights web page from Bill as he was busy with Distict duties and we were going to get together to pass control of the FB page to me and never got that done.
Father talked about the mulching today and how Bill and the family were there from early morning untill the job was complete. The FB page is unfinished business that Bill and I had together and I will try my best to make that happen, untill the job is complete.
I wanted to say this at the cemetery today but could not bring myself to "STEEL UP" and do it.
Every group you touched was made better by your being there, We, I will miss you deeply.
Tears are more than Salt, Carbon and water.

Gonzalez Family, I would like to express my sincere condolences in the passing of Bill. I was a Knight with him at St. Walters and looked to him for leadership and guidance throughout my time in the council. He will be dearly missed by all. My brother recently passed away and I read a prayer in a book I have and would like to share it. It is titled "For Those Who Mourn" Father, your Son declared "blessed" all those who mourn, knowing that no-one can mourn unless they love very much. Bring courage and strength to those who now mourn because they have loved greatly. In your loving kindness bring them healing and inner peace, and lead Bill into your kingdom of light, happiness, and peace. Amen God Bless.

I worked with Bill at American Airlines many years ago. He was one of my favorite managers!... confident and always professional. And he was an all around nice guy. May your soul be at Peace with the Lord, Bill and may your Family take comfort in all the memories. Love and hugs from your American Airlines Family and Friends, Linda Newton-Toniolo
