Obituary for Lawrence Celeste Jr.

Lawrence S. Celeste, Jr; husband of the late Pauline V., nee Brunzo; father of Lawrence S. and Donna (Scott) Thielen; grandfather of Kristin and Katelynn Celeste; brother of the late Anthony; son of the late Lawrence A.; close companion of his Yorky named Rocky; many dear friends. His life and work ethic was formed by his many years of boxing. He ran a boxing club in Hanover Park for over 40 years; helping countless kids by offering them guidance and inspiration. A member of the Chicago Boxing Hall of Fame. He was a modest, hard working, generous, honest, faith abiding, old school kind of man. He remained married to the same woman for 60 years. Family and its values were always important in how he helped raise his two granddaughters. He also had a special relationship with his uncles. Other than his family - Rocky (his Yorky) brought him tremendous joy. Visitation Thursday June 22, 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett. Funeral Friday 9:00 am prayers from the funeral home to St. Mary's Church in Elgin, mass 10:00 am. Interment Mt. Hope. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
