Obituary for Mary Andrade

Mary “Elizabeth” Andrade ( Duncan), 81, of Streamwood for 29 years, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017. Born August 28, 1935 in Pickett County, Tennessee. Elizabeth in her earlier years lived in a religious community. After leaving the convent she earned her master’s degree in Social Work from Loyola University and graduated summa cum laude. After some years she taught at Loyola University, the Lakeside Campus in the School of Social work. From there her life was dedicated to working in many hospital clinics as a clinical Psychotherapist. She became A Clinical Director at Edison Park Childrens home, Park Ridge. She worked part-time as an Emergency Room Social Worker at Alexian Brothers Hospital. She also worked at Bartlett Learning Center in Bartlett, as a school Social Worker. Later she ventured in opening her own private practice in Schaumburg, with the help of her daughter. She worked and saw patients til she was 79 years old. She loved counseling and was an admired therapist. Faith was an important part of her life and God was the center of it. She loved spending time with her daughter, reading, writing, talking with her sister, Annie;traveling, art, cooking, movies, and her dog. She loved and embraced the Ecuadorian culture. Elizabeth will be missed by her family , friends and patients. Beloved mother of Marissa Andrade- Napoles and the late Miriam Andrade; loving daughter of the late Charles and Alice ( Easterly) Duncan; cherished sister of Annamarie, Stephen and the late Estelle and Charles; special friend and former wife of Vincent Andrade; many loving nieces, nephews, Especially Nikki Carney, Judy Kunkel ,Fernando X Andrade and fond owner of Rocco. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated. Cremation was private at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, Streamwood. (630) 289-8054.
