Obituary for Mervin Fink

Mervin W. Fink, age 87, of Schaumburg, formerly of Arlington Heights, died Monday, January 13, 2009. He spent over 30 years coaching little league and American Legion baseball. An avid cubs fan, Mervin was a true sports enthusiast. He also loved working with children. Mervin was a wonderful family man always looking forward to family gatherings.
Survivors include wife Betty, nee Vetter, of Schaumburg; children Penny (Dennis) Hogy of Huntley, Jerry (Jolene) of Medinah, OH, Douglas (Patricia) of Huntley and Gregg (Cynthia) of Carol Stream; Grandchildren Traci, Tom, Kelly, Bryan, Shelley, Stacey, Brad, Matthew and Scott; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Jim Hestrup and sisters-in-law Kay Fink and Ruth Hestrup; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Ben, parents and brothers Milford “Bud” Fink and Edward “Chuck” Hestrup.
A memorial visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service 11 a.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 1500 Old Church Rd, Streamwood. Cremation was private at the Countryside Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials my be made to the American Cancer Society, 1801 S. Meyers Rd, Ste 100, Oak Brook Terrace, IL 60181 or to the church
