Obituary for Norbert Ludkowski

Norbert Paul Ludkowski, 87, of Schaumburg, Il formerly of Niles, Il. Beloved husband of 66 years to Antoinette (nee DeVito); loving dad of Steven Sr. (Marylyn), Phillip, Mary Wehlage, Eileen (Daryl) Luke, and Michael (Julie); cherished Papa of grandchildren Steven Jr., Kimi, Stacy, Alli, Britney Jo, Ashley, Branden, Andrew (Kasey), Sarah (Dan), Trent, Aubrey, Alexander, Rebecca, Benjamin, Nicolas, and Isabella; and caring great grandfather to Ariana and Kamryn. Dear son of the late Theodore and Lillian (Templin) and beloved brother of the late Clifford (Lois) and Theodore “JR”. Cherished Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Norbert was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a respected firefighter and retired 20-year veteran from the Niles Fire Department. He was also a skilled carpenter with long term membership in the Carpenters Union Local 58. He thoroughly enjoyed woodworking and crafted several complex pieces of fine furniture for his family. An avid fisherman, he carried rod, reel, and tackle in his vehicle so that he could “wet a line” and land a fish at a moment’s notice. He was known as an accomplished Handyman, and would provide guidance and assistance to family, friends, and neighbors, working on projects both great and small. Together with his wife and family, they fostered over thirty babies through to adoption for Catholic Charities. They also mentored special needs children through a program called SpREd (Special Religious Education). Those close to him know his true passions were his Catholic faith and his extended family. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 S. Greenmeadows Blvd (at Barrington Rd), Streamwood/Schaumburg. Funeral Service is Friday December 22, 2017 at 9:15am to St. Marcelline Catholic Church, Mass 10:00am. A private inurnment will take place Saturday December 23, 2017 at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Norbert can be made to Catholic Charities, www.catholiccharities.net.
