Obituary for Paul Wruck

Paul John Wruck passed away peacefully on December 30, 2017, at his home in Chicago’s North Side. Paul was the son of the late Margaret “Margie” and Paul “Babe” Wruck, and the twin brother of the late John Wruck, all of whom we trust welcomed Paul into his heavenly rest!

Paul is survived by his sister Nancy McKnight and her husband Mark; his sister Mary Anne Vonderheide and her husband August; his sister-in-law Susan Wruck; his nieces and nephews Christiane (Philipp) Muheim, Jennifer (Michael) Hatt, Caroline (Lee Yobbi) McKnight, Stephanie (Matthew) Dorsch, Joseph (Leslie) McKnight, Lisa (Bryan) Wilcosky, Kevin (Colleen King) Vonderheide, and Katelyn (Taylor Olson) Vonderheide. Paul is also survived by his great-nieces and great-nephews, whom he was very fond of seeing on his visits; many dear aunts, uncles and cousins; and by his dear friend, Brian Melnikel.

Paul attended Dominican College in Racine, Wisconsin, where he studied literature and fine arts; met his dear life-long friend, Carol Tatarowicz; and had many good times with Carol and his cousin and dear friend, Donald Dhamer, Jr. Paul had a special gift for hospitality and entertaining, which led him to an early career as director of catering at various properties in the Chicago area. Paul’s Catholic faith was important to him and, later in life, he served others by volunteering at nursing homes and at his local parish in Chicago.

On Saturday, January 6, 2018, visitation and a memorial service will be offered for Paul at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 1223 W. Holz Ave., Addison, Illinois. Friends and family are invited to gather at 9:30 a.m. for visitation and 11 a.m. for the memorial mass. Arrangements and cremation by Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory, Bartlett.
