Obituary for Phyllis Breese (Elder)

Phyllis  Breese (Elder)
Phyllis L. Breese, nee Elder, passed away on April 1, 2018, from lung and heart complications. She was born February 12, 1930, in East Chicago, Indiana, to Clifford and Agnes (nee Meissner) Elder. Phyllis graduated from Horace Mann High School in Gary, Indiana. Phyllis lived in Eagle Rock, California and worked as a statistical typist for the US Army in Pasadena for 3 ½ years. On March 7, 1959, Phyllis married Allan S. Breese, who she knew for 25 years, since she was 4 and he was 10. They lived in Des Plaines, Illinois, for 2 ½ years, moved to Streamwood, Illinois, in August 1962 and lived there ever since. Phyllis read water meters for several years for the Villages of Streamwood and Schaumburg. She was a very active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Carpentersville for over 35 years.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Jill (Lawrence) Kempf and Sarah (William) Burke; grandchildren Jesse Andrew and Jakob Alan Kempf, Brenna Elizabeth and Kaylynn Reese Burke; honorary grandchildren Christine, Angela, Garrett and Trevor Costantino; sister-in-law Stephanie Breese, cousins, Edward Charles, Rev. Bruce and Lawrence Meissner and Gloria Horwatich; several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Allan, on April 15, 2012, and her parents.

Visitation will be at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (At Barrington Rd.), Streamwood, on Wednesday, April 4, 3:00p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Lying in state on Thursday, April 5, 10:00a.m. to time of service 11:00a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 2525 Helm Road, Carpentersville. Interment will follow at 2:30p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Lutheran Church or charity of choice.
