Obituary for Richard Barrs

Richard S. Barrs, 81, died March 21, 2017. Richard was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (nee Callow); loving father of Peggy Thompkins, Michael (Ja'nice) Barrs and Judith (Steve) Basich; proud grandfather of John R. (Megan), Ryan (Brittany), Michelle (Eric), Mark (Briana), Katy, Stephanie (Mike), Amanda (Larry) and Samantha; cherished great grandfather of Hailey, Austin, Leo, Camden and one on the way; fond brother of Jane (Bob) Craven and Helen (Tom) Elder.

He was an Army veteran, an artist and he loved to fish. Richard was a Bears and Blackhawks fan; he was able to appear on the ice at a game.

Visitation Thursday March 23, 4:00p.m. - 8:00p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 95 S. Gilbert Street (at State Street) South Elgin. Lying in state Friday 1:00p.m. until time of service 2:00p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church 202 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. Interment St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
