Obituary for Richard Parra

Richard Parra died peacefully in the comfort of his home on the evening of Tuesday August 29, 2017 at the age of 62.


Richard is survived by his wife Carol Lynn Parra, daughter Cassandra (Kamil) Lynn Spodek, son Andrew Richard Parra, granddaughter Izabella Lynn Spodek, grandson Kaleb Jan Spodek and brother Ralph Parra. He is preceded in death by his mother Phyllis Wey.


Richard was born on January 18, 1955 to Joseph Parra and Phyllis Wey, in his beloved city of Chicago, Illinois. He married his wife Carol Lynn Parra on December 26, 1981. The couple welcomed their first child Cassandra in November 1982 followed by the welcoming of their second child Andrew in September 1985.


Richard was an avid golfer and proud sports fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls. He was a loving husband, devoted father and passionate grandfather who spent much of his time spoiling and loving his wife, children and grandchildren unconditionally. To know Richard was to know how much he loved his family.


Visitation Friday September 1, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 9:00pm at Countryside Funeral Homes & Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett. Funeral service will be held at the same location on Saturday September 2, 2017 at 10:30 am. Following services cremation will be private at the Countryside Crematory.
