Obituary for Robert Schantz
Visitation for Robert W. Schantz of Streamwood will be held Thursday 3:00p.m. until the time of service 8:00p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Rd.) Streamwood/Schaumburg. Following services cremation will be private at the Countryside Crematory.
Born Oct. 2, 1948 in Chicago, he died Feb. 28, 2011 at St. Alexius Medical Center Hoffman Estates.
Bob served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 - 1970 serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from AT&T after 31 years of dedicated service. Spring Valley Nature Center gave him the honor of volunteer of the year award. He enjoyed the Cubs, the Bears, fishing and camping.
He is the loving father of Lori Peth of Hanover Park and Christian of Streamwood; devoted grandfather of Katlin, Phoenix, Dakota and Skyler; cherished son of Eleanor and the late Robert; dear brother of Ellie (Al) Vogel, Denny, Chrissie (John) Caster, Glen (Nina), Rodger (Denise) and Gayle (Brian) Kempton; many loving nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
